About Christine Martin
Christine Martin obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the Université de Moncton in 2011. She has over 10 years of experience in the field of correctional psychology with Correctional Services Canada (CSC). Her experience includes assessing and intervening with violent offenders as a psychologist in a correctional setting. Afterward, she manages a multidisciplinary mental health team. This allowed her to gain management experience and a broader perspective on important clinical issues in that milieu.
Since 2018, Christine has been working in private practice. Her clientele and clinical services are varied. Her experience also includes the field of forensic and family psychology by completing court-ordered parental capacity and recidivism risk assessments. She also worked as a consultant for the management of complex files with the Department of Social Services.
Christine also has experience volunteering on committees or organizations such as the College of Psychologists of New Brunswick (CPNB), Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Investigation and Training Committee for CSC, and Scouts of Canada.
Christine is a registered psychologist with a wide range of expertise in providing bilingual services to adult clients over the age of 16. Her approach is eclectic, and she draws from various therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Process Therapy (CPT), Narrative Therapy, and others.
Christine has extensive experience as an expert witness for the court and provides court-ordered mental health assessments, violence risk assessments, and sexual violence risk assessments. She also completes diagnostic assessments, ADHD assessments, cognitive assessments, and parenting capacity assessments.
Christine has a particular interest in working with veteran clients and first responders, and she has the expertise to intervene in various psychological challenges such as depression/mood disorder, anxiety, stress management, parenting skills, grief, trauma, personality issues, dysfunctional relationships, return to work, adjustment, separation/divorce, anger, self-esteem, assertiveness, work issues, attachment, personal growth/wellness, sleep, life transition, and addiction.
Christine’s specialized training and experience make her well-equipped to work with clients from diverse backgrounds and with various mental health concerns. Her approach is person-centered, empathetic, and compassionate, and she works collaboratively with clients to develop tailored treatment plans that meet their unique needs and goals.
