About Jean-Patrick Lanctôt
Jean-Patrick Lanctôt, R. Psych (NB) Clinical & Forensic Psychologist is a forensic and clinical psychologist with 24 years of experience in the federal government, including 21 with the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC). Mr. Lanctôt has worked as a forensic psychologist in various correctional facilities, including many years at Shepody Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in the Atlantic Region. Mr. Lanctôt specializes in the assessment of the risk of violence among offenders, personality disorders, and major mental disorders, including treatment planning, crisis intervention, and assessment of self-injurious behaviour and suicide risk.
Mr. Lanctôt also worked for almost 4 years as a national investigator, leading impartial investigation services of complex cases for the local, regional, and national senior management of Correctional Service Canada in order to identify the main problems such as at the level national policies, practices and emerging or recurring themes, and recommend corrective actions and follow-ups.
Mr. Lanctôt worked for 3 years for another federal department in the field of organizational psychology, helping federal employees and their family members to prevent and resolve the difficulties inherent in their personal and professional life and by contributing to the creation of a work environment conducive to the development of people and the organization to achieve excellence. Services provided include short-term counselling, management consultancy, and counselling, basic conflict management services as well as the development and facilitation of workshops/group training on various topics such as mental health issues, harassment prevention, resilience at work, etc.
For 15 years, between 1999 and 2014, Mr. Lanctôt was a lecturer in the psychology department at the Université de Moncton. He has taught various courses at the undergraduate and graduate level as well as providing clinical supervision to students for their clinical internship placements.
