Clinical And Forensic Psychologists With A Private Practice Personalized To Your Needs
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy services; providing evidence-based services is important to us. Trained in both individual and group therapy, all our psychologists are primarily trained as CBT therapists (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), but we generally adopt an eclectic approach, with a strong CBT component that incorporates other approaches such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), brief psychotherapy, and others. Interventions can be offered in structured or semi-structured psychotherapy sessions.
Mood disorders and depression, anxiety disorders, sexual disorders, adjustment issues, sexual identity and orientation issues, phobias, post-traumatic disorders and ADHD are some of the difficulties that are often a source of psychological distress and can be helped with psychotherapy.
Assessments
Our assessment services provide quality psychological assessments, in either French or English, to address clinical issues or forensic questions. In that clinical role, we complete psychological assessments for comprehensive cognitive assessments, which include cognitive abilities per se, memory, attention and executive functions. Although we do not provide neuropsychological assessments, our comprehensive cognitive assessments are thorough and as such are excellent screenings for various types of neuropsychological impairments.
In our forensic role, we provide comprehensive risk assessments of physical and/or sexual violence for the Courts, government agencies, referring attorneys and employers. Typically such referrals involve a request to evaluate the risk of violent or sexual recidivism. We also offer risk prediction/risk management assessments and consultations for the school or the workplace.
Passion for Helping Veterans
As a former military individual, Bernard has committed himself to offer prioritized clinical services to all Veterans and First Responders (police officers, ambulance workers and fire fighters).
In this capacity, we can offer formal incident group debriefings as well as individual debriefings and/or psychotherapy for first responders afflicted with stress disorders (PTSD or others).
Not entirely satisfied with offering only individual clinical services for Veterans, Bernard was involved five years as a co-therapist (2015-2020) in the Veteran Transition Network. This is a non-profit organization who offers a number of services for Veterans including the Veteran Transition Program (VTP).
The goal of this group program is to help Veterans, and their family, to achieve a greater adaptation in their transition from military services to civilian life.
